SHIVA SUPPLIES

Misaskim of Greater Washington operates a number of shiva supply gemachim in many shuls in the Greater Washington area that assist families after the petirah (death) of an immediate family member. These supplies, available for use at no charge, include helpful items needed for observing the customs of shiva.

Comfortable shiva chair to help spare the aveil's (mourner's) back during the week of shiva.

A chair-side table allows the aveilim (mourners) to keep their drinks, seforim, books and other supplies within arms reach.

It is traditional to place a lit 7- day shiva candle in the home during the week of shiva. ​

A PA speaker system with bluetooth wireless microphone is available for large gatherings or hespeidim ​(eulogies).
Both wired and wireless microphones with mic stand ​are available for large gatherings or hespeidim ​(eulogies).
Paper roll for covering mirrors in the home available by request.
